Dear friend,
We did it! We got past the darkness of the winter months and we made it to Spring.
Equinoxes are about equality: there is the same amount of light and dark in thr day, and that's what we tend to celebrate.
You may notice that I don't use the commonly-circulated word "Ostara."
This is because we ... don't do that. There is a notion that folks have called the period of time around Easter "Ostara" because of the Old Germanic goddess "Ä’ostre" and her festival being in the springtime.
This is not resonant with the traditions I learned and was raised with, so I don't use the word. It's not "wrong." It's not "bad." I just don't use it.
I did come up with celebrating Easter, because my mother was an Episcopalian and that's how they get down. Egg hunts, pastel dresses, redemption and sacrifice.
Below is a cute lil graphic about my own Spring Equinox practices and how I get down with honoring the Wheel of the Year in the Spring.
